80 years young and Janice is still as loyal to Oriflame as she was when she first joined 42 years ago. We asked Janice for her story and how Oriflame has changed her life.
40 years ago Janice had her own modelling school and regularly taught beauty at her local college in Eastbourne. Janice hadn’t heard of Oriflame, until a friend showed her an article by Jean Taylor (Oriflame Sales Manager) in a magazine.
"It was an empowering article at the time and I remember thinking if she can do it - then so can I".
This was the perfect opportunity for Janice, not only could she use Oriflame products in her beauty school but she could make money selling them too.
"I went for an interview, purchased a beauty case and never looked back".
Janice started her business by inviting people over for coffee and demonstrations
"I just told them I was starting something new and needed people for demos. The women loved coming, of course in those days, not many women worked so it was something to fill their time". Janice says, "The products sell themselves" so it was through the demo's that Janice started recruiting.
"Oriflame was just made for me".
It wasn't long before Janice became a very successful, active Consultant and had soon built an award-winning team. Janice started focusing fully on her career in Oriflame and soon began to reap the rewards.
"Not only was I earning a great income but I’ve won holidays every year and even a computer, which kept my husband entertained".
Janice Cridland, wife, mother of 4, grandmother of 6 and successful business woman says it hasn't been easy.
"My children and husband always came first, and that’s what is great about Oriflame, it works around me and my family". Recruiting Consultants in the day whilst her children were at school meant Janice
A year ago Yvonne Flavin in Ireland decided to give up her teaching career to build her own business with Oriflame. Read about her progress and let her success inspire you to fulfil your dreams with Oriflame too.
"I started with Oriflame in 1987 to make some extra money for baby equipment as I was expecting my first child. At that time I was a full-time hair stylist, which didn’t pay very well in Ireland in the 80’s! I started doing two demonstrations per week (as that was “the rule” at the time) and soon found I was making as much money in those two evenings as I did for five days working in the salon.
Over the years I worked around my family while they were growing up, with my fingers in a few different pies i.e. Oriflame, hairdressing and teaching hair and beauty. Then eventually decided in early 2010 to concentrate full time on building a strong business with Oriflame I can’t say it’s been easy, as nothing worthwhile ever is, but I have found that the more people you meet, the better chance you have of finding reliable people to work with. I am now the leader of a strong team, many of whom are heading for the top themselves.
In my experience I have learned that remaining positive against all obstacles (every problem has a solution!), working hard, supporting your team and supporting the company in their corporate decisions are the key elements for success. It’s great to be my own boss and have financial independence.
As with any new business, success did not come overnight – I had to put in the hard work. I now have a fabulous team, many of whom are looking to build teams of their own in the knowledge that the business offers them the opportunity to create a sustainable and long-term income for themselves and their families.
For those of you starting to build a business with Oriflame please remember.... Set your goals, plan your work, be reliable and never, never, never give up.
Because if you are doing the right things every day, success is just around the corner!"
